About The School

The school prepares its graduates with the knowledge and skills to address health issues in a holistic manner based on international standards and ethics. It has various diploma programmes parked under its umbrella. Among the programmes include Healthcare, Physiotherapy, Environmental Health and Medical Lab Technology.

Mr Balaji Sivapiragasam
School of Allied Health
(Diploma in Physiotherapy)

Balaji completed his Bachelor in Physiotherapy and Masters in Physiotherapy (Advanced Orthopedics) from The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, India in 1998 and 2006 respectively. He carries a vast experience in different areas of Physiotherapy.

His skills, passion and enthusiasm have won him multiple prestigious awards in national and state level events. To name a few, he was one of the Steering Committee Member for “Out of school children study” (a joint effort of University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and UNICEF from 2016 to 2017). He is also currently the Academic Project Head for Community Alternative Learning Centers for Harvest Borneo Centre (a joint venture by Ministry of Welfare Sabah, Ministry of Security and Non Governmental organization from 2016 to date). Besides that, he was involved as the Sports Physiotherapist for “International Borneo Seven Rugby Tournaments” in 2012 and the “Governors Cup” Rugby Tournaments in 2015 & 2017.

He was appointed as an honorary consultant to set-up and supervise a Physiotherapy set-up, Comfort Aged-Care Centre. This includes hiring, training and supervises everyday activities from admission to follow-up. He is also the Web-Content developer for Malaysian Physiotherapy Association.

Balaji joined Asia Metropolitan College Kota Kinabalu in November 2009 as a Physiotherapy lecturer and he is currently the Programme Coordinator for Diploma in Physiotherapy since January 2017.

Mr Raheel Nazakat
School of Allied Health
(Diploma in Medical Lab Technology)

Raheel obtained his Bachelor degree in Biomedical Science from University of Malaya (UM) in 2008 and completed his MSc. in Molecular Biology in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in 2014. He was awarded the Best Postgraduate Student by Coursework in 2014, and won the Best Presenter Award for the year 2013 and 2014.

Commencing his career as Research Officer with Clinical Research Centre (CRC) Sabah in 2008, he was involved in a range of clinical trials, both locally and internationally. He later joined Asia Metropolitan College Kota Kinabalu as a lecturer in 2010 and is currently serving as the Programme Coordinator for Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.

Ms Nazuha Binti Alias
School of Allied Health
(Diploma in Environmental Health)

Nazuha completed her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Masters of Community Health Science majoring in Environmental Health from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2002 and 2004 respectively.

Upon completion of her post graduate studies, she started working as a Research Assistant in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), mainly focusing on analyzing research data using SPSS. She later joined Environmental Health Research Center (EHRC) in Institute for Medical Research (IMR) as a Research Officer (on contract basis). Then she joined an engineering consultancy company in Kuala Lumpur as an Environmental Scientist. She has accumulated tremendous experiences in Environmental Impact Assessments projects, Environmental Health Risk Assessment Studies for offshore exploration, Environmental Management Plan projects for groundwater study, and trained in Asbestos Containing Materials survey in Aceh, Indonesia for Aceh Rehabilitation Program Infrastructure Component in 2007.

She entered education industry as a lecturer for Environmental Health Department in one of the famous university college in Kuala Lumpur. After 2 years service, she transferred to Sabah to gain more knowledge and skills in this field. After several years, she joined Asia Metropolitan College Kota Kinabalu in 2017 as a Senior Lecturer for Environmental Health programme.


Diploma in Healthcare

The program will prepare students thoroughly in the areas of leadership, philosophy and ethical management as well as the formation of humanitarian values in the healthcare industry

Diploma in Physiotherapy

This program will enable students to understand the aspects of healthcare related to the assessment, handling and rehabilitation of physical functions as well as movement of the human body.

Diploma in Environmetal Health

This program will help students understand the theories and practices of assessing, improving, controlling and preventing environmental factors that could potentially affect public health.

Diploma in Medical Lab Technology

The program covers various laboratory procedures to assist Medical Officers in diagnosing, identifying the causes of illness, control and healing.
