About The School

The School of Foundation & General Studies provides a comprehensive one-year pre-university programme aimed at providing students with the knowledge required to further their ambition of pursuing degree courses in the field of health sciences. Our programme has attained full accreditation status by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in the year 2009. It presents a smooth transition for students to pursue a degree in any health sciences industry with direct entry to chosen faculties at AMU as well as other educational private or international institutions.

Ms Jenisah Gubau (Dean)

Jenisah is a native from Kudat which is located in the northern part of Sabah. Being the eldest daughter in a farmer’s family, she was inspired to do well in her studies by her parents.

She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Resource Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2010. She underwent her industrial training at Craun Research Centre specifically in Research and Development about Sago Palm. She successfully completed her Final Year Project entitled “Antimicrobial activities in endophyte isolated from Melastoma malabatricum”.

She joined Asia Metropolitan College Kota Kinabalu in 2010 as a lecturer. She completed her Master of Education (Education Management) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in 2015. She was appointed the Programme Coordinator for Diploma in Healthcare from 2015 to 2017. She is currently serving as the Programme Coordinator for School of Foundation and General Studies.


Foundation of Health Sciences

This programme is designed to offer an excellent and worthy pre-university education that will augment the relevant pathway towards achieving industry related careers specifically in the field of Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Allied Science and Health Care Management.
