AsiaMetKK Celebrates International Nurses’ Day 2018

In conjunction with International Nurses Day on May 12, 2018, Asia Metropolitan College Kota Kinabalu (AsiaMetKK) celebrated the birth of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. The event was organized by the students of Diploma in Nursing programme under the guidance and supervision of the Programme Coordinator, Madam Annie Cheng Ho Gan and other Nursing lecturers.

This year’s theme reflected on “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health is a Human Right”, which advocates that healthcare should be available to all no matter the location and setting. Since 1965, International Nurses Day is observed annually to educate the public about the important roles nurses play in meeting the nation’s healthcare needs and to mark the contributions they make to society.

The annual fun-filled event was attended by Chief Executive, Madam Kristy Ng Sze Nee, Head of Departments, lecturers, staffs and students. Among activities organized were various student performances, lucky draws, nursing pledge followed by lunch session.

Sporting students used this opportunity to showcase their hidden talents with entertaining performances such as singing, dancing, acting and playing musical instruments. This event not only provided exposure on event management for students, it also served as a platform to develop and strengthen positive relationships among students, staff and lecturers.
